Laid in is a very warm and personal letter to Mrs. Douglas Fairbanks Jr. from screenwriter and family friend Lotta Woods (1869-1967) who had written several of Douglas Fairbanks Sr.'s films, including The Three Musketeers, Son of Zorro, and Thief of Baghdad. The letter states that this book is to be held for Fairbanks Jr. as her legacy to him after she dies. She quotes Ed Sullivan in saying "Up in heaven Doug Sr. is proudly telling the other angels 'That's my boy!'" (in reference to Doug Jr.'s valiant service to the United States and Britain in World War II).
