Large French Enamel Street road Sign Plaque d'Artagnan
This listing is for a genuine French vitreous enamel on sheet steel street sign. Displayed on the road in question and removed due to replacement, renaming, redevelopment or roadwork.
Dumas' character was based on the real life Charles de Batz de Castelmore d'Artagnan. Fiercely loyal to Louis XIV and Captain of the Musketeers. He was Governor of Lille at the time he was called away to fight against the Dutch and was killed in the siege of Maastricht in 1673.
12" x 20" or 30cm x 50cm, superb quality.
Large and very heavy gauge.
The white enamel is in relief - excellent definition.
This sign was made in 1950s and is from Lille.
